Organize

It's back to school for all of us mothers out there and I am trying to get organized and start our school year off right.  We get new papers and pictures on the daily, not to mention the 'prizes' they get for behavior and other trinkets they pick up along the way so we need a place to stash it all... And stylishly.   Here are a couple of organized spaces that allow the little ones to get their homework on.

These colors are so fun and vibrant!! Did you see the jars hanging from the bookshelf?! Great space saver and perfect for those tiny trinkets.

Theres tons of storage in the boxes and little jars as well as pencils and all the necessities within reach of little hands.  How perfect is that magnetic board to put up school picnic reminders?!

I just had to share this because it is so useful.  We are always digging thru our pen jar to find a pencil or a marker so why not use some old jars that you've cleaned well and label them so everything has its own place.  Repurposed items in all their glory :)

HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL EVERYONE!

Travels...

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love the western slope of Colorado.  Maybe it was just perfect timing because the weather was perfect or maybe it was the breathtaking scenery but it is an amazing place.  We drove all over the western slope from Grand Junction to Telluride and even braved the drive down Million Dollar Highway (seriously scary).  We took our time driving and stopped to bask in the splendor of our surroundings and of course nosh at some local eateries, so here are the deets.

driving thru Gunnison National Forest
no filter on these beauties

unfortunately this pic doesn't do justice of the height and depth of where I am standing

These are from a full day of hiking and this was taken at Box Canon Falls.  Not a big fan of heights so this was intense but it led into a really cool tunnel that let to another hiking trail.

The next pic is the Million Dollar Highway I mentioned at the beginning of the post.  Ummm just take a look at the edge of that road... no rails just eminent death.  So yeah I was terrified especially because I was in the passenger side looking off the cliff.  I took the photo when we were driving back (which was much less anxiety ridden)

has the glare from the window because I was too freaked out to lean out to get a clear shot

Leaving you with a beautiful sunset over Mountain Village.  There was a yoga festival in Telluride/Mountain Village that I would have loved to attend but there's always next year and this Florida girl is already yearning for another trip (or move) to the mountains! ;)

I think you're just PERFECT!!

So I'm sure some of you have already seen and/or heard Taylor Swifts song Shake it Off, but I think the video is just too cute, not to mention the message.  We all have naysayers and people who just generally like to be negative about our choices however that should not define us.  I am not saying it doesn't affect our mood but lets not let these people win.  I deal with snide remarks (especially from other females) and snarky looks quite often but what surprises me the most is I see it being taught to children.  It saddens me to say that I have had young (like 1st grade) girls repeat things about my clothing choices that they have heard from their mommy.  I hope I can instill in my girls compassion, generosity and a firm belief that lifting others up as opposed to putting them down is key.

"Who someone says they are may be true but listen
to the words they speak of others to truly find out"

So this is me.  My name is Jen.  I have some really amazing little girls.  I am silly and drink too much coffee.  I love dressing up and wearing heels.  I refuse to change because I LOVE MYSELF!

On that note I'm leaving you with a few inspiring quotes and I hope you enjoyed the video.  :)

Dressing room Diaries

Spring is creeping up on us and with a new season comes a slew of wants.  It always seems to be that during the release of these newbies I'm broke! (sigh) Well I have learned quickly what I can do to offset the cost of updating my wardrobe.  No matter where you are I am sure you have a consignment/thrift shop close.  I sell some of my clothing that I haven't worn in a while and in turn have a little cash that helps in the new purchases.  The looks above were from my most recent visit.  I was trying to go for a more spring wardrobe but there were SO many pieces that were just perfect!  The green Tahari rain vest was in perfect condition and the faux fur jacket still had tags on it!!   Even though I passed on these I did come home with a great pair of shoes that I will try to post soon!
What are your fav consignment/thrift store scores?
